Red Falls to Black

The trees sway back and forth. 

The little ones

bend at the waist.

A whisper of life through the branches

sends aspens

quaking.

While the tall pines

getting hardly shaken

offer cover to tight lines.

The man stands in the river waving a stick,

making brushstrokes in the sky,

which turns to red falling,

into black.
